The total value of all goods exported from Bulgarian in January 2018 was 12.3 per cent higher than in January 2017, adding up to more than 4.2 billion leva, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on March 13.
In January 2018, the total value of all goods imported into Bulgaria was more than five billion leva, a sum 19.3 per cent higher than in January 2017, the NSI said, citing preliminary figures.
The total foreign trade balance, with EU and non-EU countries, was negative in January 2018 and amounted to 833.2 million leva.
At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) in January 2018 the total foreign trade balance was also negative, adding up to 535.2 million leva.
In January 2018, Bulgarian exports to third countries, meaning those not members of the EU, decreased by 16.3 per cent in comparison with the same month of the previous year and added up to 1 098 million leva.
The main trading partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, China, the Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, the Russian Federation and the United States which accounted for 57.3 per cent of the exports to non-EU countries
Bulgarian imports from third countries in January 2018 increased by 15.9 per cent in comparison with the same month of the previous year and added up to 1.82 billion leva (at CIF prices). The largest amounts were reported for the goods imported from the Russian Federation, Turkey, China and Serbia.
The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB – import CIF) with third countries in January 2018 was negative and added up to 731.2 million leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) was also negative and amounted to 593.9 million leva, the NSI said.
