Bulgaria earned 2BN euro from foreign tourism in first seven months of 2018 – Tourism Minister

Revenue from international tourism in Bulgaria in the first seven months of 2018 added up to more than two billion euro, an increase of 8.1 per cent compared with the first seven months of 2017, Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova said, citing figures from central Bulgarian National Bank.

In June and July 2018, Bulgaria’s earnings from foreign tourists added up to 1.2 billion euro, an increase of 6.4 per cent compared with this period of 2017, Angelkova said.

In July alone, revenue from international tourism was more than 730 million, an increase of 5.2 per cent compared with July 2017.

Angelkova said that the revenue figures showed that the tourist industry in Bulgaria was developing very successfully.

“They show that the joint efforts of the tourist administration, industry and local authorities position our country among the destinations preferred by tourists for rest and excursions,” she said.
